How to Browse and Install Themes

YouCan lets you control your store's visual design through themes. You can browse free themes from the gallery, upload a custom theme, install new ones, and switch between them at any time.

Access the Themes Page

1. Log in to your Seller Area
2. Navigate to Store > Themes in the left sidebar

Understanding the Themes Page

Current Theme

The top section shows your Current Theme - the theme currently displayed to customers. It shows the theme name, version, creator, and activation status. The current theme card has three action buttons:

• "..." menu: Export, Edit code, Theme details (new themes only)
• Edit content: Opens the theme language editor to translate static text labels
• Customize: Opens the theme editor to change colors, sections, and layout

My Installed Themes

Below the current theme, all your other installed themes are listed. Each installed theme shows the name, version, and when it was added. You can Activate, Customize, or use the "..." menu from this list.

Two Types of Themes

YouCan has two distinct types of themes that are customized differently:

New themes (Chameleon, Chameleon Fashion, Origins, Harmony, Meraki, and future themes)

• Customized through the visual Theme Editor - a live drag-and-drop editor where you add and configure sections per page
• Each theme supports multiple page types: Home, Product, Collection, Cart, Checkout, and more
• The "..." menu provides: Export, Edit code, Theme details

YouCan (old) theme

• Customized through Store > Theme - a form-based settings page at /admin/theme
• Configures fonts, colors, header/footer layout, homepage sections, and product page options
• Important: settings on the Store > Theme page do not apply to new themes, except for Checkout settings

Activate a Theme

To switch your store to a different installed theme:

1. Find the theme in My Installed Themes
2. Click Activate
3. The theme becomes your Current Theme immediately and is live on your store

Install a Theme from the Gallery

1. Scroll down to the All free themes section on the Themes page
2. Browse the available themes
3. Click a theme to preview it
4. Click Install to add it to your installed themes list
5. Once installed, you can activate or customize it

Upload a Custom Theme (Zip File)

If you have a custom theme file or an exported theme from another store:

1. On the Themes page, click Upload zip file
2. Select a valid theme .zip file from your computer
3. The theme is added to your installed themes list

Edit Theme Content (New Themes)

The Edit content button on your active new theme opens the theme language editor. This lets you customize all static text labels in your theme across different languages - navigation labels, button text, cart messages, and more.

To use it:

1. On the Themes page, click Edit content on the active theme
2. Select a language from the dropdown (e.g. French, Arabic)
3. Browse categories in the left panel: General, Navigation, Cart, Order, Collections
4. Edit the translation values on the right
5. Click Save
