How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your YouCan account. With 2FA enabled, you'll need to provide a verification code in addition to your password each time you sign in.
Why Enable 2FA?
Two-Factor Authentication protects your account from unauthorized access by requiring:
- Your password (something you know)
- A verification code (something you have)
This means even if someone obtains your password, they cannot access your account without the verification code.
Step 1: Go to Security Settings
- Go to accounts.youcan.shop/security
- Look for the Two-Step Authentication section
- You'll see a status badge showing whether 2FA is currently On or Off
Step 2: Enable Two-Step Authentication
If 2FA is currently off:
- Click the Enable two-step button
- YouCan will display setup instructions
- You'll be prompted to choose your verification method (typically a mobile app like Google Authenticator or Authy)
- Follow the on-screen prompts to link your verification app
- Complete the setup
Step 3: Verify Your Setup
Once enabled:
- Your Two-Step Authentication status will change to On
- Test your setup by signing out and signing back in
- You should be prompted for a verification code during login
- Enter the code from your authenticator app to complete login
Using 2FA Going Forward
Each time you sign in to your YouCan account:
- Enter your email and password normally
- YouCan will prompt you for a two-step verification code
- Open your authenticator app and retrieve the 6-digit code
- Enter the code on the YouCan login screen
- You'll be signed in
Important: Keep your phone and authenticator app secure. If you lose access to your phone, you may be unable to sign in to your account.
Disabling 2FA
To disable Two-Factor Authentication:
- Go to accounts.youcan.shop/security
- Look for the Two-Step Authentication section
- Click Disable (if available)
- Confirm your request
- 2FA will be turned off
Troubleshooting
I don't have the code: Make sure your phone's time is synchronized with your authenticator app. Most 2FA apps require accurate time syncing.
I lost my phone: Contact YouCan support immediately. They can help you regain access using backup codes or account verification.
The code isn't working: Codes typically expire after 30 seconds. Generate a new code and enter it quickly. If problems persist, check that your phone's clock is accurate.
