Offer the same product in different options like sizes, colors, or materials. Each variant can have its own price and inventory.
What Are Variants?
Variants allow customers to choose options when purchasing:
- Size: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large
- Color: Red, Blue, Black, White
- Material: Cotton, Polyester, Silk
- Style: Classic, Modern, Vintage
Multiple variant types can be combined (e.g., Size + Color).
Enable Variants
- Open the product you want to add variants to
- Navigate to the Variants section
- Toggle the Variants switch to ON
- The variant configuration options appear
Add Variant Options
- Click Add variant option or the plus icon
- Enter the option name (e.g., "Size", "Color")
- Add values for that option
- For Size: enter S, M, L, XL (one per line or comma-separated)
- For Color: enter Red, Blue, Black
- Click Save or Add
- Repeat for additional options (e.g., add Color as a second option)
Set Variant Details
For each variant combination, you can configure:
Price: Individual price for this variant
- Leave blank to use the default product price
- Useful for premium options (e.g., larger sizes cost more)
Inventory Count: Stock quantity for this variant
- Track inventory separately per variant
- Essential if different sizes/colors have different stock levels
- Leave blank if not tracking inventory
Image: Specific image for this variant (optional)
- Customers see this image when they select this variant
- Use to show the specific color or style
Create Variant Combinations
- YouCan automatically generates all possible combinations from your options
- If you have Size (S, M, L) and Color (Red, Blue), you get 6 variants
- S-Red, S-Blue, M-Red, M-Blue, L-Red, L-Blue
- Edit each combination:
- Click on a variant combination in the list
- Set its price, inventory, and image
- Save changes
Example: Clothing with Size and Color
- Enable variants
- Add option 1: "Size"
- Values: S, M, L, XL
- Add option 2: "Color"
- Values: Red, Blue, Black
- YouCan creates 12 combinations (4 sizes × 3 colors)
- Set price and inventory for each:
- S-Red: Price $20, Stock 10
- S-Blue: Price $20, Stock 15
- M-Red: Price $20, Stock 8
- Etc.
Variant Display on Storefront
- Customers see your product with option dropdowns
- They select Size (e.g., "M") and Color (e.g., "Blue")
- The price and image update based on their selection
- They add the selected variant to their cart
Edit Variants
To modify variants after creation:
- Open the product
- In the Variants section, click on a variant to edit
- Update price, inventory, or image
- Save changes
Delete a Variant Option
- Open the product variants section
- Find the option you want to remove
- Click the delete icon next to the option
- All combinations using that option are removed
- Confirm the deletion
Best Practices
- Use clear, standard option names (Size, Color, Material)
- Keep the number of options to 2-3 for simplicity
- Set prices realistically for each variant
- Upload specific images for each color variant
- Track inventory carefully to avoid overselling
- Test variant selection on your storefront
